Program Overview
Georgetown Mindful Teen Circle is an eight-week mindfulness circle to support teens ages 12-15. This group meet once a week for 30 minutes. this online community of practice (CoP), teens participate in mindfulness practices and discussions to promote:
Stress reduction.
Self-awareness.
Emotional intelligence.
Responsible decision making.
Self-management.

Winter 20-21 Calendar
Week of November 3, 2020- Introduction to Mindful Teen Circles
During this circle teens will:
Establish zoom circle norms.
Build rapport with circle members.
Define Mindfulness.
Week of November 10, 2020- Breath and Body
Teens will:
Explore the breath and body as anchors for Mindfulness practices
Discuss presenting effects pre and post-practice
Week of November 17, 2020- Thoughts and Emotions
Teens will:
Explore and name positive and negative emotions.
Explore thoughts during mindfulness practice.
Discuss how thoughts affect moods and subsequent behaviors.
Week of November 24, 2020- Overall Friendliness
Teens will
Explore friendship at school and in the community.
Explore positive and negative relationships with friends.
Discuss negative peer pressure and ways to be assertive, and kind with peers.
Week of December 1, 2020- December 8, 2020
Celebrating accomplishments and success
Teens will:
Check-in with Mr. Spencer
Explore positive events in their life and in family life.
Define optimism
Week of December 15, 2020- Compassion
Teens will:
Define self-compassion and compassion.
Explore the benefits of compassion to well being.
Week of December 22, 2020-Wise Choices
Teens will:
Explore the benefits of compassion to well being.
Week of December 29, 2020- The Drama Triangle
Teens will:
Explore the Karpman’ Drama Triangle
Week of January 5, 2021- Mindful Teen Ceremony
Teens will:
Reflect on Topics
Conduct a closing ceremony
