IAAM Life: Community of Practice Circles

Mindful. Empowered. Free.

IAAM Life is the Community of Practice of the Institute of African American Mindfulness, created to support mindful living, healing, emotional resilience, and collective well-being across the DMV and beyond. Rooted in IAAM’s mission to build an inclusive community devoted to mindful living, IAAM Life offers trauma-informed and culturally responsive mindfulness circles, trainings, community conversations, and practices that foster loving awareness of self, family, and community.

Etienne Wenger defines Communities of Practice (CoP) as “groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly.”

Whether you are joining a circle, attending a community event, practicing with Morning METTA, or returning to a replay, IAAM Life invites you to pause, breathe, reconnect, and practice mindfulness as a way of life. Together, we cultivate healing, spiritual awakening, and intergenerational community-building—one breath, one circle, and one mindful moment at a time.
